This is a program initiated by CSIR with the Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan to promote scientific temper through student
scientist connect program. The scope of the program is to extend the classroom learning by focusing on well-planned
research laboratory based learning. The program was inspired by honorable Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of a new India
and "Scientific Social Responsibility (SSR)" of scientific community and institutions. As part of the program, science outreach
for students are conducted in the laboratory.
The Jigyasa program is aimed at school / college students along with teachers to inculcate the culture of inquisitiveness
on one hand and scientific temper on the other.The program will also enable the students and teachers to practically live the
theoretical concepts taught in science by visiting CSIR laboratories and using the knowledge to take up small projects, compete
in quiz and also apply to their knowledge for the betterment of society.
The focus mainly is on connecting school students and scientists / faculty to extend
student's classroom learning in a well thought research laboratory based learning. It will also enable the students and
teachers to practically live the theoretical concepts taught in science by visiting NCL lab and taking up projects in their school.
The Program is expected to connect as many Kendriya Vidyalayas from Pune and nearby, along with other schools
and colleges to target maximum number of students and teachers.
The program also comprises summer training program, teachers training and special talks on occasion such as Science day, NCL's Foundation Day
and other events organized. Besides, once a month popular exciting science outreach talks are also open to students
that are conducted currently at the IISER Pune campus.
